GLOssary
Bitcrushing
An audio effect made by reducing the bit depth and/or sample rate of sound; digitally distorted, lo-fi texture
Chorus(ing) -
An audio effect that thickens sounds with <30 ms delayed copies of the audio source
Delay -
Creating a copy of an audio effect that plays back after a set amount of time (often in milliseconds)
Overdrive -
Warm, rich distortion produced when amps are pushed beyond their normal limits; more pronounced midrange and emphasis on higher harmonics
Ring Modulation -
Multiplying two signals together, generating a metallic (often inharmonic) result
Stereo Width -
perceived distance between the left and right sides of a stereo audio source; greater difference = greater perceived width
Tremolo -
Rhythmic variation in volume made by continuously modulating a sound’s amplitude
Wet/Dry -
Amount of audio effect applied.
Wet = affected audio source
Dry = unaffected audio source

Controls
Parameters are changed by clicking and dragging objects in Ring’s interface
RINGS
Click and drag the rings around Saturn to increase/decrease the modulation frequency
*** Double click to bypass any of its three ring modulation phases
Saturn
Click and drag the planet to increase/decrease the effect amount (Wet/Dry)
MOONS
Chorus Moon
Chorusing - Click and drag the moon up and down to increase/decrease the amount of chorusing applied to the audio signal
Stereo Width - Click and drag the moon left and right to increase/decrease the stereo width of the audio signal.
Distortion Moon
Overdrive - Click and drag the moon up and down to increase/decrease the amount of Overdrive applied to the audio signal
Bitcrush - Click and drag the moon left and right to increase/decrease the bitcrushing applied to the audio signal.
Tremolo Moon
Tremolo Depth - Click and drag the moon up and down to increase/decrease the amount of tremolo effect applied to the audio signal
Tremolo Rate - Click and drag the moon left and right to increase/decrease the rate of the tremolo effect.
